The existing crew welfare facilities are outdated and no longer meet modern operational standards. The new facility will provide staff with modern, safe and efficient accommodation that helps maintain the reliable running of London Underground services.

No. The facility will be for operational TfL staff only.

The design incorporates glazing louvres to reduce light spill, while the building’s height and massing have been carefully developed to respect surrounding properties. Landscaping and green walls will also help soften the appearance of the building from street level.

A detailed Construction Management Plan will be agreed with Westminster City Council to minimise disruption during the construction phase. This will include controls on vehicle access, noise, dust and vibration.

Subject to planning approval, construction could begin in 2026, with completion and occupation following thereafter.

This planning application relates only to the Train Crew Accommodation. However, delivering this facility will allow TfL to vacate Griffith House in future, enabling possible refurbishment as part of wider estate improvements.
